Russian Private Banks: A Self-Inflicted Crisis

(Harvest) Russia’s banking crisis isn’t systemic, but it is embarrassing for its much-lauded central bank. Investors who think back to 1987, 1997 and 2007, and worry that there is some kind of curse on the third and fourth quarters of years ending in a seven , will have watched the late-summer run on some of Russia’s private-sector banks with trepidation.
