New York (HedgeCo.Net) – New York-based hedge fund giant, Rothschild Asset Management, has announced plans to strengthens its alternative investment business through the addition of Shakil Riaz and his long time friend, Anthony Marzigliano, Bloomberg reports.

Shakil Riaz is to become Head of US Alternative Portfolio Management and Global CIO. Anthony Marzigliano, who has worked with Riaz since 1995, when they were responsible for managing JP Morgan’s proprietary hedge fund investments, will also join as a Managing Director. The team will start in April.

“Riaz and Marzigliano’s combined decades-long experience in customizing hedge fund solutions for the proprietary portfolio of JP Morgan, as well as for institutional clients, will further enhance Rothschild’s global reach and long-standing track record in alternative investment. They will be instrumental in the continued development of Rothschild’s capabilities in the full spectrum of alternative products for both retail and institutional clients.” Rothschild said in a press release.

Mr. Riaz joined Arden Asset Management in 2009 where as a Managing Director and Member of the Investment Committee he led the creation and management of customized portfolios for several state, corporate and union pension plans, banks and insurance company clients. Prior to joining Arden, he spent 33 years at JP Morgan, the majority of that time as Chief Investment Officer for JP Morgan’s internal hedge fund investment program.

Mr. Marzigliano also joined Arden in 2009 where he most recently was a Managing Director leading the research efforts for the global macro and credit sectors, and was a member of the Working Investment Committee. Prior to joining Arden, Mr. Marzigliano spent 18 years at JP Morgan, primarily as a part of Mr. Riaz’s team managing the Bank’s proprietary hedge fund portfolio.
