    TCI founder, partner Degorce leaves hedge firm

    – Patrick Degorce, a founder and partner at high-profile hedge fund firm The Children’s Investment Fund (), has left the company, a told on Friday.

    Degorce was in the public eye in early 2007 when he wrote a high-profile letter on behalf of shareholder to Dutch bank criticising its ‘terrible shareholder return’ and calling on it to look at a break-up, spin-off, sale or of units or the business as a whole.

    ABN was later sold to a led by Royal Bank of Scotland for about 70 billion euros ($95.73 billion).

    Fumble in the jungle: New Yorkers bid for elephant polo glory

    AFP – They are the world’s unlikeliest contenders heading to Nepal for the world’s unlikeliest sport. Meet the New York Blue, America’s elephant polo team.

    Now elephants are hard to come by in New York. Large motor vehicles are not.

    So before flying this week to the World Elephant Polo tournament, the New York Blue’s seven adventurers practiced swinging at small white balls from the roofs of two SUVs in an empty beachside car park.
