Witness in Rajaratnam Hedge Fund Insider Trading Case Gets One Year Behind Bars

MI-BT910_ROOMY_D_20130131173331New York (HedgeCo.Net) – Roomy Khan, a government co-operator in the biggest hedge fund insider trading conspiracy in US history, has been sentenced to one year in prison.

Khan has pleaded guilty to passing inside information to Galleon Group fund manager Raj Rajaratnam, who is currently serving an 11-year prison sentence. The insider-trading case against Galleon Group co-founder Raj Rajaratnam was sparked by information from Khan.

The New York Judge also ordered Khan, 54, to serve three years of probation and pay $1.525 million in restitution, money she made by trading on confidential information about Google and Hilton Hotels among others.
