Several Hedge Funds Posting Big Gains In August

New York (HedgeCo.net) – While hedge funds as a whole appear to be down during the month of August, they aren’t down nearly as much as the overall market and some funds are actually raking in huge gains so far this month.

A Wall Street Journal article highlighted four funds in particular that are having good months. The one that seems to be experiencing the greatest profit is Horseman Capital Management which is based in London. According to the article, the Global Fund was up 7.6% month to date through August 19 and that boosted YTD returns to 15.8%.

Omni Partners’ Macro Fund was up 4.9% month to date through Friday thanks to bearish bets on copper and global equity prices. Insch Capital’s Kintore Fund was up 8.7% MTD through Monday and that was after gaining 11.5% in July. Finally, the article noted that Aspect Capital Limited’s flagship fund was up 5.5% MTD through August 21.

If these funds maintained their posture over the last couple of days, they have seen gains increase on Tuesday and then drop on Wednesday’s big rally.
