Hedge Fund Investing In Iran

New York (HedgeCo.net) – While Iran may have come to an agreement with the United States and the United Nations regarding its nuclear operations, is the world ready to invest in Iran? What about U.S. citizens? One hedge fund manager seems to think so. Hans Humes of Greylock Capital Management recently visited Iran and came away impressed. He described the country as having a well-educated population and moving toward a modernized economy.

Iran has been limited on its ability to issue international debt over the last three decades, but the government will likely want to capitalize on this new source of revenue as soon as they are able. The funds would likely be used to rebuild and improve information.

The possibility of U.S. citizens investing in the sovereign debt of Iran via hedge funds might be hard to wrap your head around, but we will see if the demand is as high as what Humes thinks it will be.
