Richard Breeden to step down as chairman of H&R Block

Reuters – The largest U.S. tax preparer H&R Block Inc said hedge fund investor Richard Breeden would step down as its chairman and director at the end of the 2011 tax season.

Breeden, who owns nearly 5 percent of the company, took over as chairman in November 2007 after a proxy contest to focus the company’s efforts on its core tax business and reduce its debt load.
