Antarctica named Best Newcomer Fund of Hedge Funds at the 2010 HFMWeek US Awards

New York (HedgeCo.net) – In recognition of outperformance vs peers and benchmarks since inception, the Antarctica Credit and Distressed Fund Ltd has been named Best Newcomer Fund of Hedge Funds at the 2010 HFMWeek US Awards.

The award was announced at a gala dinner and awards ceremony attended by peers and hedge fund investors at 583 Park Avenue, New York on Tuesday 26th October, 2010.

Newcomer funds are defined as having a track record of between 12 and 35 months, the Antarctica Credit and Distressed Fund has a track record of 33 months. Five independent judges and a representative from HFMWeek make up the panel that decided the winners in eleven single manager categories and three categories for funds of hedge funds. Judging is based primarily on performance, though qualitative analysis and other criteria are taken into consideration.

The Antarctica Credit and Distressed Fund is Antarctica’s most recent fund of hedge funds launch and features an outstanding opportunity set. The result of an in-depth research effort, the Antarctica Credit and Distressed Fund protected capital well in 2008, gained positive momentum in 2009 (+25% net), and continues the positive performance in 2010.

“I am delighted that our stringent manager research and market leading due diligence process has proved to be successful,” commented Pieter de Weerdt, Principal of Antarctica Asset Management. “This award is particularly gratifying considering this is the second consecutive year Antarctica is a finalist at the HFMWeek US Awards and our team regards this distinction a testament to our rigorous approach to hedge fund research.”
