Silicon Hills Summit 2003 Showcases Thirteen Premier Semiconductor Companies From Austin

AUSTIN, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sept. 8, 2003–

Fourth Annual Event Highlights the Region’s Leading Public and

Private Technology Companies for the Financial Community

The fourth annual Silicon Hills Summit, the Southwest region’s premier semiconductor financial conference, will be held Wednesday, October 1, at the Hilton Austin Airport.

The full-day event features presentations from the some of the most exciting public and private semiconductor companies in Austin.

“Austin remains one of the top cities in the nation for semiconductor companies, and Silicon Hills Summit highlights a select group of the area’s leading technology developers,” said Stephen Straus, venture partner at Austin Ventures. “The Summit showcases Austin’s most innovative technologies to the national financial community, and the seven new presenting companies joining the agenda this year exemplify Austin’s reputation as a growing force in the semiconductor sector.”

This year’s event features 13 presentations from area companies and a special luncheon keynote address from Bob Bailey, president and CEO of PMC-Sierra. Presenting companies will include Alereon, Cirrus Logic (Nasdaq:CRUS), Cygnal Integrated Products, D2 Audio, Layer N Networks, Legerity, Molecular Imprints, NanoCoolers, Prophesi Technologies, Silicon Laboratories (Nasdaq:SLAB), Staktek, StarCore and Wintegra.

“Recognized as one of the nation’s leading regions for semiconductor excellence, Austin maintains the fourth-highest concentration of fabless semiconductor companies in the country, according to the Fabless Semiconductor Association (FSA),” said Jodi Shelton, founder and CEO of Shelton. “Similarly, the overwhelming interest from the financial community for our previous events has established Silicon Hills Summit as the region’s top annual gathering for the financial community. This critical audience relies upon this intimate conference for updates on returning presenters and introductions to new, marquee technology companies in Austin.”

Austin Ventures and Shelton created the summit in 2000 to bring the financial community to one of the fastest-growing technology locations in the nation and draw attention to the continuing success and innovation of this region. Loyal sponsors for the event remain Comerica, Ernst & Young, Gray Cary, and Vinson & Elkins L.L.P.

Conference attendees include invited industry media and analysts, venture capitalists, semiconductor market analysts, bankers, private equity fund managers and other financial experts. Industry attendance since the inaugural event in 2000 has increased by 34% each year, with expected attendance of 250 for 2003.

Registration for Silicon Hills Summit begins at 8:00 a.m. on October 1. Additional information on registration, presenters, sponsors and the event schedule is available online at http://www.silicon-hills-summit.com.
