Hedge Funds Are Far From Dead

(New York Post) Hedge funds are down, but far from out. The New York state pension is among the big-money investors pumping more money into hedge funds and other “alternative investments” despite bad publicity and public pressure.

The $178 billion New York State Common Retirement Fund has added $550 million in alternative investments, a category that also includes private equity, according to Preqin, a data provider for asset managers.
