CT Post – The Journal Register Co., parent of the New Haven Register, Housatonic Times and several other Connecticut newspapers, agreed Thursday to be bought by a New York hedge fund, a move that raises questions about consolidation in the state’s media industry and the future of print in the communities it serves.
Terms of the purchase by Alden Global Capital weren’t disclosed. JRC Chief Executive Officer John Paton called the acquisition a vote of confidence in the company’s strategy and results during the last year.
