Former Goldman Sachs partner to launch a US$3 billion Hedge Fund

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (HEDGECO.NET) – Eric Mindich, the former partner at Goldman Sachs during 1999 is preparing to launch what has been described as the largest hedge fund launch of 2004. The newhedge fund called Eton Park has raised seed capital in the billions according to published reports, and will be available for trading in the fall of 2004.

Mindich has been credited as having a good reputation, and for helping boost Goldman Sachs equity business during his tenure. This has enabled him to raise significant investment capital. The new Eton Park hedge fund will be a multi-strategy fund, with a focus on the US markets, and a European element as well. Mindich has opened a branch office in New York towards the establishment of the new portfolio.

Investors in the new fund will be committing their assets for 3-5 years before withdrawals can be made. Another veteran manager, formerly at Morgan Stanley, Stuart Hendel has been recruited by Mindich as the Chief Operating Officer of the new fund, along with Erland Karlsson, former head of proprietary trading at Goldman Sachs in London. A spokesman for Mr. Mindich declined to make statements to reporters. No details about fee structure and minimum investment were immediately made available.
