Romney Treats Hedge Fund Investors and Politicians To High Powered Retreat

Willard Mitt RomneyNew York (HedgeCo.Net) – The Washington Post reports that Mitt Romney hosted  a retreat for lawmakers, investors, business leaders and the like at the five star alpine hotel the Stein Eriksen Lodge.

Romney wanted to get all his investors together since he started managing his son Tagg’s hedge fund, Solamere, according to the Washington Post.

Hedge fund SkyBridge Capital founder Anthony Scaramucci hinted at a new spinoff from Romney’s fund, “They tied it into Solamere, they’re raising another fund, there was a micro business thing — Solamere; a macro business thing — managerial leadership.”

There didn’t seem to be a point to the Solamere sponsored meeting, according to some attendees, with Romney saying odd things such as, “I wish the hurricane hadn’t have happened when it did because it gave the president a chance to be presidential, but, you know, you don’t look back and worry about each little thing.”

Speakers included David Axelrod and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and yoga sessions were led by Cindy Crawford.
