Insider Trading Case Focuses On Defendant’s Character

DealBook – The federal judge overseeing the insider trading trial of Rajat K. Gupta made it clear from the outset that he would limit evidence related to the defendant’s extensive charitable works and humanitarian acts.

“If Mother Teresa were here and charged with bank robbery, the jury would still have to determine whether or not she committed bank robbery,” said Judge Jed S. Rakoff, the presiding judge, during a pretrial hearing last month.
