E.U. Said to Consider Hedge-Fund Compromise

NYT – The European Commission has tabled a suggested compromise on recent moves to ramp up regulation of hedge funds operating in the European Union, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing European officials familiar with the matter.

The proposed plan comes amid a dispute between the European Parliament and the European Council, which represents the E.U.’s national governments, over differing legislation intended to tighten rules governing the hedge fund and private equity industries, The Journal said.
