Active funds face squeeze in asset scramble

Reuters – Fund managers who charge clients for their asset-picking skills are facing an intense competitive squeeze as growth in new client money dwindles and performance is laid bare by the death of boom markets.

This was the message at the annual Fund Forum industry gathering this week as delegates pondered the right post-crisis business model and weighed research predicting only one-third of firms’ asset growth in the next five years will be organic.
