WEST PALM BEACH, FL (HEDGECO.NET) – RAB Capital plc, the hedge fund manager, has appointed Nick Reid as a Senior Portfolio Manager to co-manage its new Japan long-short equity hedge fund. Nick wasformerly a Senior Japanese Fund Manager for a period of about eleven years according to published reports. During that period, he oversaw the long/short portfolio focusing on mutual funds.
Upon graduation from Cambridge University with an MA in history, Nick became a UK Small Companies analyst at Panmure Gordon. He also worked at Refuge Assurance prior to joining Gartmore.
Michael Alen-Buckley, Managing Director of RAB Capital plc, commenting on Nick�s appointment said, �Nick has extensive knowledge of the Japanese market and will be an excellent asset to our team.�
In his statement, Nick said, �RAB has built up a strong and highly respected name for itself. This is a tremendously dynamic time for the company which coupled with the opportunities for the Japan region makes it a propitious time for me to join.�
Reid will be managing the new Japanese portfolio with Robin Cosgrove, who was recruited in 2004 and since his employment has been working on setting up the structures of the new fund according to news reports. The new fund will be launched June 1st according to the statements.
RAB Capital was founded by Michael Alen-Buckley and Philip Richards in 1999 and floated on AIM in March 2004. RAB currently manages $1.1 billion of assets for institutions and private clients. The firm focuses on capital preservation and consistent absolute returns. It currently manages five hedge fund strategies and two funds of hedge funds, all of which have delivered positive returns since inception, according to company statement.
