HF A Long-Lost Asia Hedge Fund Hub Is Emerging From the Shadows

(Bloomberg) It’s more of a trickle than a flood, but the hedge-fund crowd is slowly returning to Japan.In Tokyo, a city relegated to the status of hedge-fund backwater over the past decade as managers opted for Hong Kong and Singapore, at least eight firms have started up over the past 12 months, according to Nomura Holdings Inc. Not since 2014 has Japan seen a year with more than five launches, data from researcher Eurekahedge show.
