IMF proposes 2 new taxes on banks, hedge funds

USA Today – The International Monetary Fund is proposing two new taxes on banks, hedge funds, insurers and other financial institution to pay the cost of future failures and rescues, the BBC is reporting. The levies would extend to profits and pay.

The BBC says the proposals, which it calls “more radical” than expected, were delivered to the G20 nations today and will be discussed at the group’s meeting this weekend in Washington.
