Kansas City Star- Patience, Fortitude – and Stephen A. Schwarzman? The two stone lions that have famously bracketed the front steps of the New York Public Library for nearly a century will soon have to move over, symbolically, that is, to make room for a Wall Street financier.
The city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission on Tuesday approved the library’s request to have the name of Schwarzman, whose money kick-started a $1 billion, six-year renovation project, etched into the walls of the Beaux Arts edifice on Fifth Avenue.
