Brokerage Firm Scores Knockout With Boxing Charity Event

dr_ee4e91ff8c4410e41752c58d944038dbNew York (HedgeCo.Net) – Brokerage firm partners at Hennion & Walsh, held a successful Silk City Charity Boxing Event this month in New Jersey. “Giving back to the surrounding communities is a cornerstone of our corporate culture,” said Rich Hennion . “Organizing this fundraising event is just one of the many ways we put that principle into action.”

“This is the sixth consecutive year we have sponsored this event and we couldn’t be more pleased with its continued success,” added Bill Walsh. “The money we help raise for these worthy charities goes a long way toward helping them carry out their mission and we can’t wait to do it again in 2015.”

Over the course of the last six years, the Silk City Charity Boxing Event has raised more than $150,000 for the following charities:

  • The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, a Catholic Church founded in 1820 in Paterson, NJ.
  • St. Joseph’s Home for Boys, a shelter for homeless boys in Totowa, NJ.
  • The Do-Good House, which provides scholarships to deserving students in and around the Greater Paterson area.

Over 400 people attended this year’s event which featured eleven competitive amateur boxing matches and a spectacular sports memorabilia silent auction run by MC Sports Collectibles. The Silk City Charity Boxing Event is sanctioned by USA Boxing, the national governing body for Olympic-style boxing in the United States and a member organization of the United States Olympic Committee. With more than 40,000 members, including athletes, coaches, officials, physicians and administrators, USA Boxing sanctions all Olympic-style boxing competition in the United States.

Several noteworthy sports celebrities who have enjoyed the spirited competition in the past also attended this year, including football great Otis “OJ” Anderson of the NY Giants, boxing legend Chuck “The Bayonne Bleeder” Wepner, former world light heavyweight and cruiserweight boxing champion Bobby Czyz. Hennion & Walsh is looking forward to hosting another fantastic charitable evening in 2015.
