Euro-Hedged Fund Poised to Dethrone Biggest European Stock ETF

Bloomberg – The slump in the euro is reshaping the landscape for exchange-traded funds that buy stocks in the region, catapulting one with built-in currency hedges to the verge of becoming Europe’s biggest equity ETF.

The WisdomTree Europe Hedged Equity Fund has a market capitalization of $11.2 billion, up more than 10-fold from a year ago. It trails the Vanguard FTSE Europe ETF by just $1.2 billion after adding $8 billion since the start of the fourth quarter. The ETF has surged 14 percent over the last year, while its peer with no currency protection has declined 6 percent.
