Korea Remains Attractive for Hedge Funds

Korea Times- Growing volatility in global financial markets will create more investment opportunities for highly-skilled hedge funds this year, although concerns about a U.S. economic recession will be hampering investor sentiment, an HSBC researcher said Monday.

Clark Cheng, head of U.S. Research at HSBC Alternative Investment Group, which is responsible for advising investors about hedge funds at the bank, said emerging markets, including South Korea, still remain attractive for hedge fund managers.

“Current circumstances in emerging markets appear to be leading toward a change in opportunities for HSBC and other financial institutions with regard to the hedge fund business,” Cheng said at a meeting with reporters in Seoul.
