MarketWatch – The amount of money flowing into hedge funds slowed during the fourth quarter after some managers suffered big losses from the broadening credit crisis, Hedge Fund Research reported on Tuesday.
A net $30.4 billion flowed into hedge funds in the last three months of 2007. That’s down by a third from inflows of $45.2 billion during the third quarter, Hedge Fund Research said.
Still, bigger inflows during the first three quarters of last year made 2007 another record year for the industry. A record $194.5 billion flowed into the industry in 2007, up from $126.5 billion in 2006, another record, HFR reported. Total assets in the industry reached $1.87 trillion.
