JUNGLE CRASH

New York Post- Heavy rain, dense foliage and mountainous jungle terrain had made the search in western Chiriqui province, where the plane crashed, difficult.

Klein, who graduated from college at 17, was CEO of Pacificor, a Santa Barbara-based firm that manages several hedge funds.

He left Santa Barbara on Saturday and was due to return on Christmas Eve.

His plane, a four-seater, was heading for the Chiriqui volcano, about 285 miles west of the capital, Panama City, when it vanished in the mist.

The flight normally would have taken about 45 minutes.

There was heavy rain at departure time, but Panamanian air authorities haven’t formally determined a cause of the crash.

RPC Radio of Panama quoted witnesses as saying the plane was flying low through high, swirling winds. ‘
