Newsday – For the first time, it took more than a mere billion dollars to make Forbes Magazine’s annual list of the 400 richest Americans.
But that didn’t present much of a hurdle to Cablevision honcho Charles Dolan and hedge fund manager James Simons, both of whom rose in both ranking and net worth this year.
Simons, 69, earned $1.7 billion last year, according to Institutional Investor’s Alpha Magazine — enough to make him America’s highest-paid hedge fund manager, and to push his Forbes-calculated networth from $4 billion to $5.5 billion.
