Hedge Stock 2006

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (HEDGECO.NET) – What do flower power, social networking, rock music and hedge funds have in common? The answer can be found at Hedgestock 2006 presented this year by Albourne Partners. Hedging their bets, and stocking up on tents, they plan to sweep their clients and partners off somewhere reminiscent of the flowerpower, happy go lucky days of yore, but with a dash of unlimited future options, a kind of driven togetherness. In a flowery mini bus.

Hedgestock 2006 will be held on the pastoral estate of the Knebworth House in Hertfordshire, southern England. Tickets include a 2-day conference pass, and entry to the rock concert for £500 + 17.5% VAT. Delegates will be given a handheld electronic device called a Spot Me, which will keep them updated and informed, guiding the patron to their next meeting. More than 5,000 people are expected and all profits will be donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The setup will be informal, meetings will be held in a tented “village” on the grounds, and the whole event will round off with a charity rock concert led by Roger Daltrey, of “The Who”, and newcomer band “Alphaspin”, fronted by Ashton Mayne. Knebworth has been a popular place for large concerts in the past, groups like Led Zeppelin, U2, Robbie Williams, Queen, and the Rolling Stones have played the venue.

Albourne Partners, an alternative investment community is sponsoring the event and hopes to make it the premier hedge-fund-industry trade show of Europe. Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, UBS and Morgan Stanley are also listed as Founding Sponsors.

For any “Twilight zonians” of you out there, here’s an interesting factoid. There is an uncanny resemblance to the “Predator’s Ball” that junk-bond king Drexel Burnham used to throw to woo corporate takeover artists back in the late 80s, it was supposed to be held 16 years ago to the very day, the 4th, to the 7th of April, 1990. However the resemblance ends there, as this one shows all the signs of actually happening, and promises a reminiscent twist in the usual networking agenda. In their own words… “Because conventions don’t have to be conventional.”
