WEST PALM BEACH, FL (HEDGECO.NET) – The new European hedge fund report, Datamonitor, has been released. The report covers the big five European Countries: France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and UnitedKingdom. It addresses issues relating to the private client hedge fund market, in areas of regulation, performance, fees, valuation, disclosure and distribution.
Datamonitor has made predictions about the direction that the private hedge fund market in Europe is heading, up to the year 2007. Some of the highlights of the report include difficulties and problems facing European wealth managers in the area of regulatory oversight. According to the report, about 39% of wealth managers in Europe see regulatory difficulties as a major impediment to hedge fund investment in the European marketplace. The report also noted that the growth of interest in hedge fund investments has forced the European regulators to institute legislative changes in the hedge fund arena.
Datamonitor also noted that: �Some wealth managers believe that should a period of sustained equity growth reoccur, the hedge fund market would decline. However hedge fund investment has wider motivations. 70% of wealth managers see increasing diversification or the ability to gain an absolute return as the primary reason for investing in hedge funds�.
The report projected that �the total size of the European HNW hedge fund investment market at around EUR60bn in 2003, representing around 75% of European hedge funds. Datamonitor believes that regulatory changes allowing wider distribution and creating greater clarity will help to drive growth of more than 20% per annum in the HNW market to 2007�.
