WEST PALM BEACH, FL (HEDGECO.NET) – KE Absolute, a hedge fund services specialist, has launched an early-stage hedge fund. According to the report, the new fund is dedicated to investing inearly-stage Asian hedge funds. The launching of this new product was necessitated by the desire to overcome some of the stringent requirements for investing in more established hedge funds.
According to Tom Ashworth, KE Absolute�s managing director. �Traditional funds of funds typically have stringent requirements before making investments in hedge funds, one of them being a minimum track record of at least 12 to 24 months,� Ashworth said.
He also explained that Asian hedge funds have the tendency to offer better returns at the early stages of their investment life, than some more established hedge funds. Some hedge fund market analysts, however point to the issue that many new hedge funds indeed post superior returns during the first 24 months; reason being that such new launches are still small by investment assets. In addition, the managers of such new funds are highly driven to produce superior results at such stage.
Ashworth also said the new fund is being introduced to institutional investors, adding that there is the niche in Asia for such investment instruments. The new fund will be investing in about 15 hedge funds according to him, annual returns have been targeted in the range of 15-20%, and trading volatility is expected in the range of 7-8%. The new fund has been seeded with undisclosed investment capital from KE Investments, a Singapore-based securities brokerage and Investment Company, according to the news release. Ashworth noted, �We are in a unique position in that we know the Asian hedge fund community very well and many potential investors are our clients, giving us first hand knowledge of their trading approach and investment styles,� he said.
