WEST PALM BEACH, FL (HEDGECO.NET) – The Old Mutual Asset Management [OMAM] has announced the launching of a host of funds, a US equity hedge fund, and a US select equity fund according to publishedreports. Terry Ewing and Ann Hall will manage the two new funds. Both managers spent some time visiting and meeting with about 60 US based companies. According to the report, the US Select equityfund will have a bias in the S&P 500 listed securities, however the fund will be investing across the spectrum of the S&P 500 index.
According to Mr. Ewing, the US Select equity fund will be comprised of about 55 stocks, and each stock in the fund could be 3% overweight or underweight relative with the index. Ewing also stated that about two-thirds of the fund will represent the fund�s core portfolio holdings; such instruments may be held in the portfolio for a period of about six months to a year. The rest of the stocks in the portfolio may be held for a shorter duration according to Ewing.
Ewing said, �We will be an all-cap fund, but we feel we have competitive advantage in mid-caps.� Ewing was the former manager at Britannic Asset Management Company, and while there, Mr. Ewing oversaw the American Growth Fund with about US $100 million in management assets. Ewing is positive on corporate earnings, and thinks such trend may be continuing.
Ms. Ann Hall oversaw the US $60 million Henderson American Smaller Companies fund; both managers will rely on their expertise in stock selection to choose companies to be included in the new portfolios. No additional details about fee structure or minimum investment requirements for the US Equity hedge fund were immediately provided.
