WEST PALM BEACH, FL (HEDGECO.NET) – Citigroup Private Bank organized a �get-to-know� meeting with Middle Eastern investors, with the hope to introduce and explain hedge fund investment philosophy andinvestment strategies to the group. Such meeting was organized with the assistance of hedge fund specialists, according to the report.
Among other topics on the agenda was how to promote a greater understanding of hedge fund benefits as well as risks. The meeting also covered advanced hedge fund trading strategies, and attendees also discussed the role of hedge funds as a wealth management strategy in a �diversified portfolio of traditional and alternative investments�.
Hedge funds are investment groups, organized by individuals or organizations for the purpose of trading and taking advantages of opportunities and market inefficiencies, which manifests in the markets. They are generally made up of about 99 investors, or 499 according to SEC rules, its investors must also meet certain stipulated SEC standards, including minimum qualifications in individual�s net worth before such persons are admitted into the investment club.
They trade various asset classes, and generally operate in loose regulatory environments, which enable them to carry out their business with little interference from governmental oversight. Currently there are estimates of about 7,500 to 8000 global hedge funds, managing over US$800 billion of investor assets.
