XOsoft Recognized for Unique Approach to Solving Storage Challenges
XOsoft, a leading provider of Business Continuity software solutions, today announced its partner Richard Fleischman & Associates (RFA) has been recognized by IDG’s Computerworld, in partnership with the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA), as a winner of the “Best Practices in Storage” Award Program. RFA, a provider of network solutions that support New York-area portfolio managers and promote successful hedge fund management, won the “Storage Reliability and Data Recovery” category for managing its customers’ technology needs with XOsoft’s WANSync global business continuity platform.
RFA builds all of its networks with the highest availability possible, based on an advanced array of electrical and communications redundancies, which it has recently strengthened with XOsoft’s WANSync global business continuity platform. RFA employs the synchronization and continuous real-time replication capabilities provided by WANSync File and WANSync Exchange for protection of numerous clients’ file servers and Exchange mail servers.
“We had been using competing products to protect our clients’ information,” says Michael Curry, RFA’s Chief Technology Officer. “These worked well at data replication, but took longer to bring servers back up. XOsoft’s WANSync cut that time in half, and that is a large advantage for us.” Michael also found WANSync’s dedicated support for Microsoft Exchange and other industry-standard application servers advantageous. “Simplicity was also a factor in choosing to add WANSync to our data center,” he says, “as maintenance would be as simple as turning over a single sheet of directions to a senior engineer.”
The August blackout proved the reliability of RFA’s business continuity infrastructure, and specifically XOsoft’s solutions, which demonstrated a significant contribution to the availability of RFA’s customer data. When the lights went out, RFA’s Business Continuity Center located in Purchase, NY, operated flawlessly. Using its advanced array of battery and generator-backed electrical and communications redundancies, as well as XOsoft’s WANSync, the RFA site did not lose a moment of availability at any point during its first full-scale, “real world” disaster.
Hedge fund clients, whose critical servers are connected to RFA’s data center through multiple redundant T1 lines, were able to continue monitoring and trading their portfolios effectively from office space adjacent to the data center despite the blackout. RFA’s own systems kept a watchful eye on its more than 200 managed client networks, and were able to power them up over the weekend as power was restored. WANSync made this process as simple and fast as possible. With the opening bell of trading Monday, not a single RFA-managed network was down.
