TheStreet.com Names William R. Gruver to Board of Directors

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Oct. 27, 2003–TheStreet.com, Inc. (Nasdaq:TSCM), a leading provider of financial commentary, research, analysis and news, today announced that William R. Gruver has beennamed to the Company’s board of directors. The appointment, effective immediately, increases the size of TheStreet.com’s board of directors to eight members.

“Bill’s extensive financial experience, solid leadership skills and exceptional management style are an ideal fit for TheStreet.com,” said Thomas J. Clarke, Jr., TheStreet.com’s chairman and chief executive officer. “I am certain that his thirty years of business expertise will prove invaluable as we develop and execute our Independent Research Group’s growth strategy.”

Gruver joined the Management Department at Bucknell University in January 1993, after retiring as a general partner following a 20-year-career at Goldman, Sachs & Co., the international investment banking firm. As a Visiting Professor, he teaches courses in investments, investment banking, strategy and leadership, and serves as a resource for all Bucknell students as the Distinguished Executive-in-Residence.

At Goldman Sachs, Gruver was named Chief Administrative Officer of the equities division of the firm when it was struggling to overcome the effects of the October 1987 stock market crash. Under Gruver’s leadership, the division reorganized and redeployed its people and capital. Internationalization, decentralization with accountability and vastly enhanced use of technology were critical components of the successful turnaround that made his division one of the firm’s most profitable areas.

“The opportunity to join a team at the leading edge of 21st century financial services is both exciting and challenging,” said Gruver.

Gruver is a trustee, chairman of the audit committee and a member of the executive committee at Berea College and a board member of Hirtle, Callaghan & Co., Bank Nord and eSocrates, Inc. He is also a national arbitrator of the National Association of Securities Dealers and on the investment committee of the Geisinger Health System Foundation.

He received an A.B. with distinction from Dartmouth College and a M.B.A. from Columbia University.
