Hedge Fund Launches: Merrant Select Market Neutral Fund

New York (HedgeCo.net) –  Swedish fund of hedge fund manager, Merrant, has announced the launch of the Merrant Select Fund to a broader range of institutional investors in September 2010.

“We search for highly liquid strategies that can generate sustainable Alpha and explore market inefficiencies regardless of directional movements of the global equity and bond markets.” Ulf Sedig, CEO said. “We have a different approach than the majority of fund of hedge funds, whom usually seeks the “best of breed fund” within different hedge fund strategies. This commonly used allocation strategy results in a portfolio with too much downside correlation and linearity with main equity and bond markets.”

The Merrant Select Fund completed a profitable one year track record with 7,2% annualized return and 100% positive months in July 2010. Successfully managing capital throughout the turbulent Dubai crisis (Oct 2009), Greece crisis (Jan 2010) and EMU crisis (May 2010), has proven that the fund is uncorrelated with global equity markets and can protect capital in extreme volatile markets.

Merrant Select Market Neutral invests in 10-15 mid-sized hedge funds with highly liquid, valid and repeatable strategies with proven track record in volatile and changing market conditions. The fund targets a capital appreciation of 10-16% per annum with high consistency (85-100%), low risk (2-4% standard deviation).
