{"id":5492,"date":"2007-01-04T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2007-01-04T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T04:00:00","slug":"polygon-drops-newcastle-united-bid-plans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hedgeco.net\/news\/01\/2007\/polygon-drops-newcastle-united-bid-plans.html","title":{"rendered":"Polygon drops Newcastle United bid plans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reuters South Africa &#8211; A consortium backed by U.S. hedge fund Polygon said on Thursday it had dropped its interest in English Premier League side Newcastle United, leaving the door open forJersey-based investment firm Belgravia.<\/p>\n<p>  &#8220;St. James&#8217; Park Group Ltd (the Polygon-led group) confirms that it is no longer in discussions regarding such (a) possible offer and has no intention of making an offer for Newcastle United Plc at  this time,&#8221; the group said.<\/p>\n<p>  Polygon made an initial approach for Newcastle in June and held talks with majority shareholder John Hall, who with his son owns more than 40 percent of the club.
