The long and the short of Aussie hedge funds

Financial Review – Generations of Australians have been conditioned to believe that the sharemarket always bounces back. But a group of Australian equity hedge funds refuses to make that assumption.

“When you look at the macro-economic levels of leverage that built up until 2007-8 it’s more like a situation in Japan where debt has accumulated to unsustainable levels. When a cycle goes for too long, it’s going to take a long time to work through the system,” says hedge fund manager John Corr of Aurora Fortitude.
