Credit Suisse Hedge Fund Index Up In July

New York (HedgeCo.net) – Credit Suisse released the July performance numbers for their 14 hedge fund indices yesterday and the results were mostly positive with 10 of 14 gaining ground. The most closely watched Broad Based Index gained 0.87% during the month.

Of the sub-strategies, the top performing index was the Managed Futures Index which gained 4.33% on the month and the Short Biased Index was the second best performing strategy with a gain of 3.88%.

The worst performing strategy index was the Emerging Markets Index which lost 2.01% during the month of July. The Convertible Arbitrage Index lost 1.04%, the Distressed Index lost 0.74% and the Risk Arbitrage Index was down 0.76% as the other three indices that were down during the month.

For comparative purposes, a portfolio of the 15 HedgeCoVest Composite models gained 0.97% during the month of July and that includes long-only models, short-only models and long/short models.
