Instinet Dark Pool Starts Offering Options Trades to Mutual Fund Clients

Bloomberg – Instinet Inc. has begun using its dark pool, or private trading venue that helps investors buy or sell large blocks of securities, to help transact U.S. options orders for institutional clients such as mutual funds.

The New York-based broker, which employs its CBX system to cross shares in stock and exchange-traded funds without displaying orders to the public in advance, is now seeking to match options orders, said Jonathan Kellner, president of the Americas at Instinet in New York. Trades processed through Instinet Options CBX will still be executed on exchanges, as regulations require.
