‘Activist’ hedge funds agitate their way to gains

America’s Markets – Hedge funds whose M.O., or modus operandi, is to use their deep pockets and financial acumen to agitate for change at underperforming companies are at the top of the hedge fund performance charts this year.

So-called “activist” hedge funds were the best-performing hedge fund strategy in June, the second quarter and the first half of 2014, according to research firm eVestment.
