West Palm Beach (HedgeCo.Net)- Satya D. Pradhuman, former Chief Small Cap Strategist at Merrill Lynch, has launched Cirrus Research LLC, an independent research firm specializing in the small, mid and micro cap areas.

“We are offering a macro approach to small, mid and micro caps which combines quantitative techniques and common sense,” Pradhuman said. “This is a unique strategic product that will appeal to long-only and long/short investors. “The search for good ideas is unending. With the small cap space, you must be nimble, and we intend to inform our clients of anything that will keep them out of trouble.”

According to Eric Fernandez, Senior Strategist, “There is an uneven distribution of small, mid and micro cap companies and analysts that follow them. We perceive this as an opportunity to fill that gap for active managers who are looking for strategic calls about which groups to be in, as well as for arbitrage situations.”

Cirrus products examine both relative performance and absolute returns and focus solely on the discovery of arbitrage and opportunistic situations. “Creating competitively distinctive, idea-driven research that helps clients outperform is our mission,” Pradhuman noted.

Prior to founding Cirrus, Satya Pradhuman spent more than 20 years on Wall Street in equity research at E.F. Hutton, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch. In 1994, he led the launch of the Small Cap Research Department at Merrill Lynch, gaining recognition for proprietary tools that measured performance, growth and value cycles, volatility swings and capital access trends.
