Boston Globe – Six Boston firms rank among the top 100 hedge funds in the country, according to the annual ranking by Alpha magazine.
Wellington Management Co. led the Boston contingent on the list in a three-way tie for the 27th slot, with $8.5 billion under management. Adage Capital Management ranked 31 with $8 billion, followed by Highfields Capital Management with $7.7 billion, Brookside Capital, an arm of Bain Capital, with $5.2 billion, GMO with $6 billion, and Baupost Group with $5.3 billion.
Goldman Sachs Asset Management of New York topped the list overall, with $21 billion in assets.
