Asia stocks tepid as US hikes tariffs on Chinese goods

(CNBC) Stocks in Asia were tepid in Friday afternoon trade, as an increase in U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods kicked in at 12:01 a.m. ET Friday.Tariffs from 10% to 25% on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods were implemented by the U.S. Beijing said it “deeply regrets” the tariff hike and would take countermeasures, but did not provide specifics, Reuters reported.
