UCITS Hedge Fund Stock Index takes hit in third week of May

New York (HedgeCo.net) – The UCITS hedge fund stock (HFS) Index lost 1,26% in third week of trading in May 2010 (by business day 15, May 21th 2010). Only two out of the eleven sub-strategies returned positive results, although Market Neutral only added 0,02% to its performance while Fixed Income was the only real winner last week with gains of 1,28%.

The biggest loser from a weekly perspective were Event Driven (-2,56%), L/S Equity and CTA (both -1,95%). Month to date the biggest losers remain Convertible (-4,21%), CTA (-4,06%) and Global Macro (-3,79%), while Credit (+4,81) and Currency (+3,06) not only seem to wheather the storm pretty well but manage to stand out in this difficult economic climate.

The UCITS HFS Index Series is the first index family that tracks all UCITS funds using hedge fund strategies. The UCITS HFS Index Series includes all UCITS III funds that apply absolute return strategies, have more than € 10 million of assets under management, offer at least weekly liquidity and have reported numbers for more than one month. Index tracking funds, long-only and 130/30 strategies are excluded.
