PR Newswire (press release) – Thomas Lee today announced his departure from Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P., the private equity firm that he founded in Boston in 1974.
Mr. Lee said that he intends to reenter the private equity field and separately to pursue a hedge fund of funds business. He said he intends to pursue the hedge fund of funds business initially through the marketing and expansion of Blue Star Holdings, the business he established several years ago.
Mr. Lee said that he intends to pursue the full breadth of buyout opportunities in the private equity business and will make a further announcement of his plans in the next few months. He will be based in New York.
